THAT'S ONE SECRET I'LL NEVER TELL
Oh,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hi! Remember me? I write a blog and stuff.
The question of the day is: does the New York Theater industry finally have its Gossip Girl? Please, oh please, oh please.
There a lot of kerfuffle over this uncredited Village Voice piece. An actor sent an email disparaging the show he in and it leaked to the Voice and the rest is history. It sucks for that actor and as a playwright myself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I really, really feel for that guy. And I hate the Voice because they always give me bad reviews, even when nobody else does (see MilkMilkLemonade.) That why I loathe to side with them.
I don exactly see why it inappropriate for them to print this. All the commenters on the Voice are like, "Grr! Take this down, jerks!" But why is anybody surprised that they published this? The Voice is famous for snark. Why is it unethical? The actor sent out a mass email, or massive enough to get leaked at any rate. I with Isaac. EVERYTHING IS FOR EVERYBODY ONLINE. Period.
This is a situation that makes me feel totally tarhearted. I such a terrible gossip. I love,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], love, love this email. That exactly why The Village Voice published it. They in the business of pushing their product and they knew publishing garbage like this would increase their web traffic. And it did. Because of assholes like me. And assholes like you, too. 122 has decided to close the show to critics and call the production a workshop because of this. That seems a shame to me. Are we really that fragile as artists? Look, I know how shitty it is to get a bad review. The New York Times came to my first play ever and then said that I have a raisin for a heart and that I hate small town America (which I probably do.) I an artist, but I also a businessman. I took that bad review straight to the fucking bank, thank you very much, and this production has the chance to do the same.
Anyway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Branden JacobsJenkins wrote a play in which people wear black face. He seems like a pretty bold guy. I sure he can take it, right? Blair Waldorf would never dish out something she couldn take. The Fiance and I watched National Lampoon's Vacation On Demand last night and I came to a disturbing realization: I totally have wood for Chevy Chase circa 1982. I was just thinking that I wanted to make Hipster Grifter tshirts that had Kari's face in a heart and then said, "Get it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], girl!" God,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I love grifters. And then I found actual tshirts. I wish I could design.
