Lacoste paints the town red with its latest line.
IT would take a real music buff to recognise even half of what Christophe Lemaire has on his iPod. Not many people here would have heard of Les Rita Mitsouko or Deux, or even Suicide.
Such is the eclectic taste of Lemaire and it is from this kind of unique music that he gets his inspiration for his fashion collections for Lacoste and his own label, Lemaire.
After all, this is the man who had the option to become a DJ.

Instead, he made the fateful decision to take the sartorial route in 1985.
"I don't regret it at all. Music is still close to my heart and I spin from time to time at parties," said Lemaire in an exclusive e-mail interview.

Saint Laurent is the designer he admires the most. The 43-year-old creative director (since 2000) confessed that when he was first approached by a head hunter to work for a label, he was hesitant as he didn't want to be a fashion mercenary.
Lemaire quickly changed his mind when he found out it was for Lacoste as he felt an affinity with the iconic French brand.
"I feel very fortunate. I think I have modernised the crocodile (the iconic logo of the brand). That has been my goal: to create fresh,[url=http://rogervivieronlinesale.olimx.com/][b]cheap roger vivier sale[/b][/url], modern classics with an individual sense of style, not to follow trends but use fashion to express yourself."
He approaches the unique sportswear collection of Lacoste as you would a premium fashion. To add to that mix, Lemaire started the Club line to cater for a more upmarket look and the high-end segment.

Stimulation also comes from "the very French things for the fashion shows and collections. It can be a French film, or the idea of 'lé weekend'. It can also be a town or holiday destination."
Given that premise, you get an idea of how Lemaire fashions his creations.
Lacoste launched its new line called Red,[url=http://woolrichparkaschweiz.albirank.net/][b]Woolrich Parka Schweiz Online[/b][/url]! at the spring/summer shows last September.
Lemaire gave his rationale for the line that caters for both the sexes: "We felt we needed to address a young, more urban and trendy market with an independent segment of the brand."
The traditional logo has been tweaked (the usual one has the crocodile sitting on top of the letters Lacoste) to show the crocodile leading the letters and punctuated in between with a red exclamation mark.
Jumping jack flash: Slim-fit trousers and revamped polo Tee and white sneakers.
Two main themes run through the new line.
"The first theme is very 60s, very trendy, very clean and very fitted. The Mods meet Mary Quant, the second is a bit more street golf with funky Warhol pop colours and musical references from the 60s and 80s early hip hop," he explained.

There is a short, fitted biker blouson that pairs well with Bermudas in stretch satin. A nylon blouson in window-pane checks that folds away into its right pocket for carry and convenience round up this line.
"Each season I like to update classics with contemporary cuts, colours and other changes. A good example is the fresh take on the iconic Mods 'monkey jacket,' " he said.
