MasterCard Launches Style Week in Sandton City
As part of MasterCards ongoing efforts to drive business value for its customer financial institutions and their merchants in South Africa, the company this week launched MasterCard Style Week in collaboration with ELLE in Sandton City.
Fashion and accessories remained the top purchasing priority (44%) amongst South Africans according to the latest MasterCard Purchasing Priorities Index.
Mark Hearne, VP Business Leader, Marketing and Communications, MasterCard said that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], according to the Index, South Africans intend to spend more on clothing, shoes and cosmetics in comparison to the previous year, and women represent a large percentage of this figure.

MasterCard Style Week in collaboration with ELLE is the ideal platform to help drive consumer affinity with MasterCards financial institution customers and merchants by demonstrating the value that being a MasterCard cardholder carries.
From 30 September to 3 October 2010,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], shoppers can preview the summer seasons trends in a custom-designed shopping area located in Sandton City Fountain Court,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], accessible to MasterCard cardholders only.
Each look will be hand-selected by ELLE editor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Jackie Burger, and her team from a range of retailers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], all located within Sandton City. Shoppers are invited to browse at their leisure, select their wish-list of items from those on show, and then go to the retailer of their choice to purchase them.
Participating brands include Aldo,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Fendi, Guess, Lacoste, Lancome,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Levisons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mango, Marion and Lindie,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Nine West,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Salvatore Ferragamo, Swatch and Thomas Sabo.
To complement this line-up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], MasterCard will be offering its cardholders a number of additional incentives and privileges to make their experience an unforgettable one.
MasterCard cardholders will be entitled to discounts at select participating retailers, as well the opportunity to participate in giveaways and competitions, including the chance to win R100,000 in merchandise from participating brands.
The weeks activities will kick off with the Step Out in Style event on 30 September from 7.00PM, hosted by MasterCard, ELLE and Sandton City where shoppers can mix with style-makers and celebrities, all the while enjoying after hours shopping at more than 30 participating retailers who will remain open until 9.00PM that evening, serving champagne and running giveaways to incentivize customers.
