More Oddities
In my earlier article on cat behavior, we mentioned some fascinating and unusual
conduct displayed by the family of cats that live on my farm,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. That was solely the
beginning. These cats appear to delight in surprising behavior. I thought I’d share a
few extra gems with you.
There are three feminine cats on my farm. They encompass matriarch, Patch, and two
of her daughters. There have been different female cats on the farm, however I’ve been able to
discover new homes for all of them. Cats, being solitary hunters, will not be anticipated to show any
sort of social hierarchy. My three feminine cats do have a definite hierarchy. The highest cat is,
after all, Patch. It’s the two daughters which were interesting. The older daughter,

years youthful than Calico. She is the smallest cat on the farm. A black cat with flashy
white markings, little girl is active and elegant.
Since her birth, Calico has been Patch’s favourite daughter. Calico and patch hung
out together a lot of the time. Patch even allowed Calico to assist her together with her kittens.
When Patch wanted to go do one thing, Calico was right there to baby sit. Even when
Patch was there, Calico was typically right there with her. She may typically be seen washing a
kitten or even simply offering a pleasant warm place for the little man to sleep. When Little
Woman arrived things continued quite awhile in the same way. Little Woman grew up and had
her first litter of kittens. Calico, as occasionally happens with calico cats has turned out to
be sterile. She has never had any kittens. Because of that, when little Girl had her kittens,
Calico misplaced her favorite daughter status. With Little Woman’s kittens, Patch grew to become the
doting grandmother. She was at all times helping Little Girl along with her kittens. The two of then
could often be see lying collectively, bathing the kittens or watching them play. Calico was
banished. She wasn’t allowed anywhere near those kittens or some other litter since.
Calico did not just lose kitten privileges. She wasn’t even allowed to hang out with
Patch anymore the way she used to. Poor Calico, she was very upset. She knew precisely
who to blame for her predicament. Little Girl. Calico and Little Lady fought several times.
Unfortunately for Calico, Patch would generally jump in on Little Lady’s facet and run
her off. Calico was banished to hanging out along with her brothers. It’s been a couple of years
since then. Little Girl is still favourite daughter. Calico’s position has eased somewhat.
Final summer season, Little Woman allowed Calico to assist her along with her kittens once in awhile. Patch
has allowed Calico to hang around with her again from time to time. Who is aware of? Sooner or later
Calico may just be capable to work herself back into her mother’s good graces. Little Lady
seems to assume so. She watches Calico very carefully. If she thinks issues are going too
properly for Calico, Little Lady will start a battle with her. Oh properly, Life goes on.
It isn’t solely the women showing some interesting behavior. This previous yr two
brown kittens have been born. Thomas, a good-looking cinnamon brown with numerous flashy white,
was born within the spring. Pudge is solid brown without any white at all and was late
summer. What’s attention-grabbing about these two is that they are both fascinated by horses.
We’ve got three horses and every day yow will discover Thomas or Pudge (or both) strategically
positioned to look at them. After I call the horses out of their pasture, often I discover Thomas
trotting in together with them. If I throw hay into their mangers I have to check before I
throw. Very often Thomas or Pudge will likely be sitting within the manger, prepared for a detailed up
study of the horse. When the horses are grazing, Thomas will creep alongside, nostril to the

Pudge has recently developed a fascination with horse’s tails. He’ll come proper in
behind the horse’s heels and start enjoying with the tail. Happily for him, the horses
have kept away from launching him into orbit.
