Looking for random conversation, some good laughs and the occasional bargain? Here's your group.
Please review the additional guidelines that will be enforced on top of the Community Guidelines,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in order to maintain a friendly environment that is welcoming to all:
4. Profanity is no longer censored, but please think about who may be reading your posts before you use it. This includes helping a friend-in-need here in the BabyCenter Community.
7. Calling a community member a Troll is considered a personal attack by Babycenter, and such posts will be deleted.
8. You may not post links to your website or a friend's website within a post. If you have a website you would like to share with the requestor, you must ask them to pass you a note if they are interested. You may NOT pass them a note about your business unless they explicitly state they would like people to pass them a note with their business link. Doing so unsolicited is a violation of the following portion of Babycenter's Selling Guidelines:
Please note that if someone sends you an unsolicited note,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], journal entry or talk that is commercial or personal business related,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this is a violation of these rules. We'd appreciate it if you'd let us know so that we can address the issue.
Share your tips on saving money and where to find the best bargains, deals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], freebies. We also like to throw in a lot of off topics and a little bit of drama.
So, back in late April, my left foot started hurting. Then it hurt a lot. Then I used Dr. Google and started icing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stretching and using Advil to "try" to control the pain. There were days I could barely walk and when I could walk I wanted to die from the pain,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and I have a VERY high tolerance for pain.
I finally broke down and went to a podiatrist last Thursday (6/21), and was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis, given a steroid shot near my heel, and orthotic inserts to be worn for 3 weeks straight during all waking hours when I'm not showering or icing my foot.
I have to say I already feel 95% better and am wondering if this is temporary? I'm scared to hold out so much hope,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so early on.
I would love to hear from people who have had this for at least a year to see what their recovery and daily life has been like,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as my doctor said it can take up to a year to recover,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or I may never recover.
My understanding is it will never fully go away. I have "flare-ups." I ran a half marathon on 2 feet with PF in September. That was a dumb idea, and it took a very long time for the pain to go away. My orthotics help A LOT.
You should be doing stretches before you get out of bed. There are actually special sock things (technical term) that keep your foot flexed while you sleep. I haven't bought them, but I've heard good things. When you have a flare-up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], freeze a water bottle and then roll it under your foot. It feels amazing. Wear shoes at all times, even in the house. This was a big adjustment to me. Get those gel mats for the kitchen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so it's more cushioned while you're cooking.
I'm doing well now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I'm telling you it took a hell of a time to get out of intense pain after I ran that half marathon on the injuries. If I walk too much out of the blue, I'll be sore for a few days. And I haven't had the guts to take up running again. Although I do miss it.
DH was dx over a yr ago. He got the orthotic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the boot, and iced it all the time. Now his foot is getting sore again.
My mom has it and only did the injections. She's supposed to ice it but never does,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. DH doesn't need to wear the orthotic with the crocs.
Erica, that is TOTALLY my pain. It seemed worse when I'd been sitting and then I'd limp around for anywhere between 5-20 minutes before I could walk with any kind of normalcy and even then it hurt.
I used Dr. And if it means I have to wear the orthotics and do the icing, stretching and occasional steroid shot,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's so much better than what I was at this time last week.
