The same thing once happened to us at Zara, where we picked up a cute skirt then immediately put it down after getting a whiff of its chemical-y smell. What is the fast fashion we love actually made of?
Some really bad stuff, it turns out. The result? "We found that 20 of the world's favorite brands are making and selling clothes containing hazardous chemicals which contribute to toxic water pollution where the clothes are made and washed," said Greenpeace Toxics Campaigner John Deans. In short, our spidey senses were right on target.
So Greenpeace is doing something about it: since 2011, the Detox Campaign has been challenging major corporations like H Nike and Adidas to phase toxic chemicals from their manufacturing processes and products by 2020 (7 of which have committed to doing so). No surprise. Major manufacturing corps look for ways to save money. One big expense they have is what to do with the toxic chemicals left over. Paying to dispose of them in a safe manner is to pricey so. they cigarettes, clothes and other products are pumped full of this toxic crude and sold to consumers. Problem solved.
Let us not forget why these major corps gave big $ to repub party - to shut down EPA.

That is free trade. We get screwed out of our jobs, the government gets screwed out of their revenue from tariffs and dutys, the country of manufacture just plain get screwed loose . and the corporation pockets the profits including the taxes it SHOULD have paid for importation.
