Celebrity clothing lines are nothing new, mind you -- Madonna and Jennifer Lopez are among the celestials who have trod this runway -- but as cultural trends go, their seemingly mass exodus from Rodeo Drive to the suburban mall is blurring that once impenetrable line between the haves and those who want to look like them.
Witness Sarah Jessica Parker, back in the limelight three years after retiring her coltish Carrie Bradshaw of TV's saucy Sex and The City, a character who was a self-avowed clotheshorse flitting about Manhattan in designer duds and sheepishly confessing in one episode to having $40,000 worth of Manolo Blahnik shoes in her Upper East Side closet.

At least that's what Marbury says, and clearly the kids are listening.

Not to be outdone in the low-budget style wars is Target, which last month began carrying Isaac Mizrahi's latest entry in the affordable designer sweepstakes -- the $100 wedding gown.
It's a shocking concept in the age of the average $10,000 Vera Wang wedding gown, and at a time of year when a simple prom dress is costing parents upwards of $1,000, but the gowns in Mizrahi's bridal collection, made with trapunto, tulle, silk,[url=http://www.duveticajacketsjp.com/][b]デュベティカアウトレット[/b][/url], lace and taffeta, are no less stylish than their pricey peers.
"Every bride deserves to find the gown of her dreams, regardless of her budget," Mizrahi said during the line's launch.
The other irony in this new wave of cheap chic, of course, is that it may well be the rich, famous, couture-clad celebrities who shake up, and wake up, the fashion industry.
It may well take Parker in a $20 cocktail dress to remind us -- much like Sharon Stone did when she wore a white Gap tee to the Oscars -- that whether you live in Boise or Beverly Hills, they're still just clothes.
