Maersk Oil says floating oil unit working off Scottish coast
LONDON, May 29 () -- A floating production, storage and offloading unit, damaged in a 2011 storm, is back in production off the coast of Scotland, Danish company Maersk Oil said.Maersk said its Gryphon FPSO is producing after an extensive overhaul. The vessel suffered considerable subsea damage when it broke anchor during a 2011 storm."The storm and resultant damage was a distressing and unwelcome event but along with critical repairs we have succeeded in using this incident to bring forward an upgrade of the installation and extend the productive life of Gryphon for another decade," Maersk Managing Director Martin Rune Pedersen said in a statement.Maersk said it would start moving the Gryphon FPSO to full production capacity over the coming months. Once that's achieved, the facility will process more than 20,Christian Louboutin Discount,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.Gryphon is tied into several reservoirs offshore. The FPSO will contribute to Maersk's goal of increasing production to more than 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day within seven years."We are looking forward to a high level of drilling activity over the next couple of years, allowing us to maximize value from the reservoirs, supra skytop," Pedersen said.
