Nike should have done their homework before naming their newest sneaker in honor of the Irish. Nike's Black and Tan sneaker was named after the famous combination of a stout and a lager poured into a pint and considered an Irish tradition in the states,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but unfortunately it's not in Ireland.
While the footwear giant didn't mean to insult the Irish,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it did by using the name Nike SB Black and Tan Quickstrike for its newest sneaker. The black and tan drink is usually sold to the masses especially around Saint Patrick's Day in the US. It's made by mixing a stout and lager,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], usually Guinness Beer with Harp or Bass Beer. The dark beer and the light beer offer quite a contrast and the trick is to float the two layers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one on top of another,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so they don't mix before it's given to the customer.

While the US uses this name to celebrate this Irish tradition on this side of the Atlantic Ocean,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the black and tan represents something tragic for the Irish.
In the 1920's ,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a British paramilitary group called the "Black and Tans,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," suppressed an armed Irish Revolution using brutality. The "Black and Tans" were known for "its ruthless attacks against Irish civilians,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," according to Yahoo News. This would be the American equivalent to calling a sneaker the Al Qaeda,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Ciaran Staunton,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the president of the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.
