"We started our business in 1962 and we were located on Fifth Avenue South by the old telephone building. It is now Bistro 921,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I think,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Logsdon said. "In 1968, I took over the business, and we moved to this location in 1971."
As a young man, Logsdon found time to study at Edison College while working in his parent's business in Naples, along with his brother John. Logsdon also served as a radar and electronics specialist in the United States Air Force.
Since Logsdon opened his doors, everyone from local restaurant servers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], construction workers, police,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fire and emergency service personnel found high quality work boots with steel reinforced toes at Vic's. But Logsdon has more than just one of the largest selection of steel and non-steel toe boots in Collier County.
"We also have assorted inserts for boots, belts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], wallets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Red Wing Socks, assorted Leatherman tools,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], orthopedic shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and moccasins," he said.
Stepping into a new pair of work boots,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one of Vic's customers said he shops often the shop because his last pair of boots lasted more than three years during everyday wear.
"The first thing I try to do is to ask (customers) what they do. What I would sell to a restaurant person, I wouldn't sell to a fireman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Logsdon.
As for his secret to long term business practices,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Logsdon strives for excellence in customer service.
"One thing people want to do in business is serve the public. If you give them good service,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they'll return. If you look at successful businesses, it's service they pay attention to. Businesses should strive for better service," he said.
In his decades of service to Naples customers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Logsdon grew to understand the changes in bone structure of the foot as customers age. Logsdon measures customers feet with an electronic machine in the front of his store,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which allows customers to see the proper sizing of their feet as well. Logsdon also utilizes his own traditional Brannock measuring device to ensure proper fit, to reduce chances of foot and heel pain.
