Queen Elizabeth II Has Assistants Break In Her Shoes
Being the Queen of England is fairly awesome. You can crash any wedding you want, you never need to carry cash on you and you can wear a hairnet in public whenever you damn well please.
Another fun benefit of being Queen Elizabeth II,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it turns out, is that you don't have to wear in your own shoes. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the queen's goto designer Stewart Parvin revealed that the queen has assistance in the shoe department:
"[The shoes] have to be immediately comfortable . . . She does get someone to wear them. The Queen can never say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'I'm uncomfortable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I can't walk any more.' She has the right to have someone wear them in."
Um, that's amazing. Parvin, who designs those bright coatanddress combos the queen loves so much, also revealed that a royal team documents every outfit Queen Elizabeth II wears by name. Says Parvin:
"Every dress has got a name we'll get that in an email. It's the only way we know which is which. There is one called Buttercup, which is a really popular one. So they can ask, 'Have you got Buttercup?' 'Oh it's that yellow dress!' The one thing that she likes, so she wears it a lot.
"Then they catalogue where the outfit has been worn so if she was going to meet President [Barack] Obama,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she wouldnt wear the same dress. That's why people will think she wears things once, because there's such a system."
Hm, we wonder which one is "Buttercup". could it her Royal Wedding outfit?
Despite her seemingly highmaintenance wardrobe habits, we love that the Queen is cool with a bit of outfit repeating. She just recently rewore a magenta and black dress and the coordinating hat this month, having donned the exact same outfit two months earlier at her first Diamond Jubilee event.
And luckily, she seems to have passed the practice on to her granddaughterinlaw.
Get more behindthescenes dish on the queen including why she wears bright colors and her secret shoulder pad trick in this weekend's Sunday Telegraph.

You can tell from the pictures how truly down to Earth she is and what a great mommy and queen she must be. I'm very interested in learning more about her now. I'm American and we don't really get that much of an education on modern day England. They focus on the past too much. History is good and all but current events need to be remembered,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], too. I think the economy would be better if students were encouraged to keep up with these things! That's off topic, though. I must agree, if I was as busy as she and at that age, I would definitely be wearing comfortable shoes. No shoe is bliss to just throw on straight out of the box and walk in all day!
Makes sense to me. Every day, she meets people for whom the meeting with the Queen is going to be one of the most memorable days of their lives. She owes it to them to make it memorable for the right reasons, not because she was fidgeting or grimacing or looked uncomfortable. She has to be impeccable all the time, and she is. She never fusses with her hair or her jacket or her necklace or gloves, which is exactly how it should be. Whether her job matters or not, I don't know. But she takes it seriously and executes it perfectly.
In short, I gots no problem with the Queen having a minion to break in her shoes. But I'd be surprised if she wears massproduced shoes. I'm pretty sure her shoes are custommade.
