Outsourcing Services and Using Call Centers in the USA
Lots of people treat outsourcing as a dirty word, because they automatically assume the predicate jobs overseas. Outsourcing is a term for enlisting the services of a third party company to handle tasks on behalf of the enlisting company, not a term for exporting jobs. Theres a tremendousstigma surrounding outsourcing services. People assume thatoutsourcing automatically means shipping jobs overseas. However, thisis not always the case. As a matter of fact, all outsourcing means isthat the company is paying a provider of a service for their effortson behalf of the company. If your paychecks, for instance, come infrom a payroll company on a weekly basis, then your payrolldepartment is outsourced. The same is true for call centers.Companies can save money in the long run by outsourcing services thatthey only need temporarily, or that need additional crew duringcertain busy periods. Again, outsourcing doesnt always meanoverseas. There are plenty of call centers in the USA available foroutsourcing services. Why outsourceanything?Outsourcing services, especially call center services, can save a company thousands inoverhead. In situations where a company needs a temporary boost topersonnel, such as a busy order season, or an emergency response callcenter, it just doesnt make good sense from a fiscal standpoint togo through the hiring process, complete with interviews andpaperwork, a dozen times over to bring in a handful of temporaryassistance when you can simply use an outsourcing service toaccomplish the same goal. Doesnt outsourcingtake jobs away from people who need them? This is a common mistake.Outsourcing services overseas takes jobs away from American people, but there are call centers in the USA as well. Outsourcing a serviceto a call center in the USA obviously does not take jobs away frompeople who need them. As a matter of fact, its an option thatprovides more jobs, not less. Call centers are indispensible, whetherin-house, or as an outsourced service. The only difference is that inoutsourcing a service, a company can reap all the rewards of anin=house call center, without all the headaches. How does outsourcingprovide job security?Outsourcing servicesprovides job security in the aspect that its a reliable and viablesubstitute for temporary employment. Whereas hiring a temporary staffwill provide jobs over a short term for a handful of people, using anoutsourcing service provides hundreds of people with steady,full-time work. Call centers have banks of operators dedicated to onething: handling phones on behalf of the hiring company. Call centersin the USA have stables of operators that they train specifically fora given company when that company hires them as an outsourcingservice. So, rather than having a corral of temporary, ho-humemployees that have resigned themselves to working for a couple ofweeks, the company can instead have a staff of dedicated operatorsready, willing, and able to handle all their needs.
