Nothing pains me more than having to dispose of old shoes that are too worn down to pass onto anyone else. It's so much easier to part ways with shoes when I know that a friend,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or local thrift store,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], can use the shoes. So what do we do with the shoes that we've worn to the bone? For the most part,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they're not equipped to be waste. Thinking of alternative uses for these shoes is something I've been working on lately and I finally came up with something: Jewelry.
Granted,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'm a fan of jewelry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in general. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some of my old-totally worn down-shoes have helped me to make some pretty amazing jewelry.
With strong scissors,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I cut circle shapes out of the leather of my shoes. I flattened three beer caps with a hammer. With a nail and hammer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I made a hole near the top of each bottle cap. Using pliers to separate the ends of a small ring designed for jewelry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I inserted the rings into the hold of each bottle cap. With an eco-friendly glue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I sealed the leather circles onto the bottle caps. I connected each ring to chain so that all of the bottle cap/leather pieces connected and then connected the entire piece to one longer chain.
I'm really happy with the way the piece turned out and I ended up finding a way to use my old shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]! Try a version of this yourself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!
