It can be quite difficult to figure out which Chateau in Bordeaux you want to visit and go on a tasting tour with, as there are over 10,000 Chateau's in Bordeaux. Here are our favourite Bordeaux chateau's, all very different and worth visiting.
If you can get an appointment, Chateau Lafite Rothschild is the best 'big name' vineyard to visit. You must arrange a tour a few months in advance, but it will [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] be worth the extra effort to get a personal tour of such a famous chateau. Immersed in history this vineyard is extra special.
For the party-goer in you, Chateau Rigaud is the ideal solution. A [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] boutique hotel, after a day of wine tasting come back and experience the 'house party' they provide for [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] guests, as well as lessons from an oenologist on different grapes and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] how to match wine with food. This is an excellent alternative to traditional wine tasting.
Chateau Lanessen is a very friendly and welcoming chateau, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and it is also very easy to go for a tasting here without an appointment. They're incredibly friendly and everyone is welcome. They also provide an introduction to the art of blending.
The ideal vineyard for families is Chateau d'Agassac. Closely resembling a fairytale castle, they offer a quiz for children and audio and video iPod tours for all. The children even get to taste the vineyard's grape juice while the adults taste [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] their truly delicious wines.
Chateau Cablanc is definitely high on the 'fun' list. You can become a winemaker for the day, and help the workers top up the barrels in the chateau's cellar. You also get a five-course lunch with the perfect wines to accompany the meal.
