Post hollister france Helpful Hints for Writing Short S
Good dialogue advances the action and presents the interplay ofideas and personalities. It also can give relief from passageswhich otherwise would be long expository passages.
The [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] resolution or ending of the story is necessary to allow thereader to know what happens after the climax. It may consist ofjust one paragraph after [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the climax, or it may be several. Thereader should know the story is [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] over without [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] seeing [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] "the end."
Since short stories require brevity, usually a writer onlycreates one conflict for the protagonist, while a novel maycontain several for the main characters and other characters inthe story.
The components of any story (including novels) includecharacters (characterization), conflict, theme, setting, dialogue, and plot. Coherence, clarity, and comprehension hold astory together.
Due to the fact that short stories are short, writers can'tcreate as detailed a character as can be accomplished in anovel. Dialogue and interactions can reveal the personality of acharacter where brevity doesn't allow long character exposition.
The main idea a writer wants to share with readers often iscalled the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] theme. The theme is rarely directly stated, but a reader should be able to understand the main idea by thetime he finishes reading the story.
Dialogue, whether internal or external, moves the storyalong, showing information rather than telling it. Dialogue ispart of the action needed to create an interesting story.
An important job for us as writers is to make the reader careabout our characters. We should make them believable, human(even if nonhuman) by revealing each character as fully aspossible.
Hal Blythe and Charlie Sweet, in the October The Writer, stated,"Use dialogue." Of course they were discussing how to open astory, but that's good advice - to use dialogue all through astory.
A story needs conflict, at least one problem that theprotagonist (hero, main character) faces, struggles with, andeither wins or loses at the climax.
Conlfict places [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] obstacles in the main character's way. Theconflict [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] can be external, caused by another person or by nature( such as climbing a mountain or a wild animal). Conflict canalso be internal: [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] overcoming an emotional trauma, fears, struggle with evil.
A story should make sense, be coherent. The writing should beclear. The reader should be able to understand. Coherency, clarity, and comprehension are the glue that holds a storytogether.
Where and when a story takes place is the setting. Insome stories, setting takes an important role. In others, itisn't much more than background. However, the reader should havean idea of whether the story takes place in historical times orin modern, in the country or in the city. The information can beinferred by what characters say and do.
The theme could be as simple as love conquers all or as deep asthe need to exorcise one's internal deamons.
The beginning sets the stage and catches the reader's attention.Through thoughts and dialogue, sometimes exposition, thebackground needed to [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] understand what is happening unfolds. Theconflict may be introduced.
The rising action takes the protagonist through the conflict tothe turning point or climax. Keeping the interest of the readeris essential during this portion of the story.
One way to provide conflict and interest in your main characterat the same time would be to put him/her in danger.
Plot is the chain of related events that create the storyand is made up of at least one major [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] problem, known asconflict. The plot has a beginning, the rising action, the climax, and the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] ending.
However, a work of fiction shouldn't end with a summary, norshould it trivialize the story and its characters. Perhaps, theending needs to be a part of the story that is revised until itsimply meets the need. Everything I've read seems to say that agood ending is almost harder to attain that the rest of thestory.
Covering everything there is to know about writing short storieswould require a book; therefore, let's consider the componentsof a short story and a few helpful tips for writing one.
Characters are the people and/or animals or objects thattake part in the action of the story. The story centers on themain character or characters, even if others are included.
Without a plot, a story doesn't exist. A writer might have acharacter study or a narrative without a plot, but not a story.
The climax either shows the protagonist wins or loses the battleor that he just finds a way to accept.
