Post Are you nervous about raising GIRLS
Are you nervous about raising GIRLS
LOL! I commented on that other post about my initial nervousness over having a boy, and for better or worse, I can also post here about nervousness over having a girl! At an early u/s (14w1d), I was told that this child is a girl. While I'm holding out for the anatomy u/s to make sure, in the meantime, I'm a little nervous about this! I'm used to my son, so that's familiar territory to me now. And as I mentioned in the other post, I wouldn't classify myself as a girly girl, either. I'm terrible with hair and makeup, and while it's not that I have a bad fashion sense,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's just that I really don't care about fashion! So I worry that I'm going to do her a disservice in all these areas.
I'm sure it will work itself out, and I obviously don't have any advice yet, but I just wanted to say that I completely relate. Smile
I am also in the middle, I guess. I hated pink, was never into dance, ballet, cheerleading,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], make up, heels or dresses. I played soccer and swam, use very little makeup (I also do it the same way every time I do it, I don't get the alternate ways/colors thing), am not comfortable in dresses and didn't even own one until I was 22, I don't have heels or do my hair in cute styles. I am a low ponytail, bun on top of the head, white or black tshirt with jeans and flip flop kind of girl.
I was surprised (and so was my family) when I was pregnant with my daughter and wanted pink and purple (always hated those colors) things, bows in their hair, boutique style dresses, etc. I have found no problem being a "girl mom". They both have cute boutique type outfits, lots of bows and girly things. But they also have Nike shorts, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] runs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], under armour shirts (YDD had the Onsies). They don't mind playing outside or getting dirty and they have cars to play with along with dolls. I won't have a problem if they decide to love dance or cheerleading. I will be much more excited if they want to do a "real sport" though Wink
I have two girls already and they are more tomboy than me lol. They take after daddy lol,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. They still like their princess dresses though but they don't mind getting dirty. The girl part about me is I am a girl and I wear makeup. I am not all about frilly pink stuff lol. I can't do hair so I hate when I want their hair to look pretty and all I know is how to braid lol. Other than that everything else is good. My girls are tough and loud. I think of I have a boy he may be intimidated by his sisters lol. My girls fight like boys.
I consider my self an inbetweener. I love camping, hiking and archery. I've always wanted to go bow hunting Very Happy i hate "fashion" but I love makeup and getting dressed up.
I have 2 girls. One is also into archery but she is a total girlie girl and sometimes it drives me crazy (she's also 5). My other LO is more on the tomboy side. Likes pants, bugs, trucks and trains. We don't know what this LO is yet, but DH and I both freaked out that it will be a boy. We are just so used to our girls. I'm scared of getting peed on LOL. If its another girl I think we will be ok Smile
I found out just yesterday that we are having a girl and I am still getting over the shock! My family is boys boys boys so I kind of just assumed that this LO would be a boy. I am still getting used to the idea of not being a "boy family".
I think I fall somewhere in the middle when it comes to "girliness". I've never been great with makeup,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I am a hairstylist and I do love to get dressed up. I am also an athlete and I love sports. I love to rock climb, camp and backpack. I can be all done up at work then leave for a climbing/camping trip and not bathe for days!
I would like to think that my style will allow me to raise a well rounded girl. One who can appreciate looking pretty AND kicking ass at sports!
BTW, I spent all night designing a "girl super hero" nursery. I found lots of awesome vintage Wonder Woman, Super Girl, and Bat Girl posters. Also, some really cool framed comics with female characters on the covers!
I am a mix of both. I love sports,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], love to get dirty and I did mma fighting for about 3 years ( all of my fight equipment was pink, haha ) However, I love my heels, always put on makeup, love clothes, and I love dressing up! I always pictured myself as a boys mom. When I had my daughter, I was curious to see how she would be and she is SUPER girly haha. She's only 3 and she can't leave the house without a purse, loves her play makeup, and she loves to play dress up. I am curious to see how she will be when she gets older. I went through a tom boy stage around 5th grade. I would wear my brothers shirts to school and always hungout with the boys haha.
