Why all the frustration? Well, turns out that I have no real talent according to the judges of various contests around the University of Arizona. First they beg students to turn in their work, and so I thought I would get something published, but I guess they got such a flood of submissions in that they actually had to do some judging. I thought my story was fun, but it probably struck a chord of disdain with someone. WHy? Probably because I talked about the uselessness and stupidity of school politics for a fraction of it, and one of the characters resembled someone who ran for school senate a few years ago. So what's worse than that? Losing a poetry contest to Kirin of all people! And she won! She fucking won! I think I'm much more talented than her. I wonder if I can get my stiuff published if it doesn't resemble genre writing. Serves up to twelve people. And if a person finds that their story doesn't match the ingredients, they put it down and find something that does.
Sometimes I wonder how anybody gets published nowadays. It was so easy for people like Virginia Woolf and James Joyce to get published back in the day.
